Unless a mysterious benefactor pops out of the woodwork, chances are I won’t be buying Miracleman: The Golden Age this pay window. But having nipped inside the Oxfam shop that’s selling it, I was pleased to note that they’ve established a little graphic novel section (which also includes a random assortment of single issues). The selection isn’t huge, but they did have volumes of Bone and Cerebus in stock, so it could prove to be a good place to visit when I actually have money to spend.
So what have I been reading? Amongst other things, Marvel’s Wolverine #7, by Paul Cornell, Mirco Pierfederici, and Karl Kesel, and Titan Comics’ Numbercruncher #1, by Si Spurrier, P.J. Holden, and Jordie Bellaire. Both have their merits, with the former the strongest issue of the series so far, and the latter wonderfully ambitious and bursting with ideas. I heartily recommend you check them out.
